Runway RunAway A Backstage Pass To Fashion, Romance, & Rock 'n Roll
Rock n Roll, Def Leppard, Steve Clark and The Eagles Don Henley Designs Dresses - Runway Runaway Collection
Her story, a 300 page memoir that at the surface may seem all glitz and glam, but whose beauty runs deep. An every woman's quest for strength, hope, happiness, understanding and inner peace.
On the road she met the doomed love of her life; fiancé Steve Clark, of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, Def Leppard. Theirs was a relationship with dizzying highs and bottomless lows, as she watched Steve drink and drug himself to death, and caught herself in the wake of his spiraling cycle of addiction and depression, unable to help.
Ultimately fleeing and finding the strength to save herself, Lorelei shares her candid and blatant truth of how she survived the greatest loss in her life, the aftermath and the determination to not only survive, but to heal her-self and help to heal others.
Runway Runaway is highlighted by never before seen photos of the music and fashion industries, hand written journal entries, agenda pages, and backstage passes illustrating the story of a neglected child turned teenage runaway, who follows her dreams to become an international model, eventually finding herself in the process.

Strength of a Woman
I'm a fan of Def Leppard, even though I was young when Steve Clark died. I knew about Lorelei Shellist, the American model who was his partner in life. It was great to read about her beginnings with her mother's depression, her father who loved his wife and the struggles they faced. Lorelei's decision to runaway and live with her sister and introduced her to the music and drug scene of the 70's. I thought it was interesting to learn she and Don Henley had a relationship and how he kept turning up in points of her life giving his fatherly opinion. Her first marriage before Steve Clark that didn't last long. Plus the modeling career highs and lows. Steve Clark and the rest of Def Leppard came in the later chapters and though most of the conversations that Lorelei and the band had about Steve and his drinking, I heard through their interviews with VH1 Behind the Music. I thought when she went to the meetings of the spouses, girlfriends/boyfriends of the addicts that this is where she had her "a ha" moment and gained a new perspective that her whole life (she admits this many times) she wanted to save the people she loved the most in her life but never saved her self. I always wondered why someone else was the one who found Steve dead, it turns out she walked away due to the advice from a member of this group. I cried when she found out Def Leppard management (one who was supposed to be a good friend), Steve's parents shunned her and she was not allowed at the funeral. My heart ached for her and how things could've been if Steve had a stronger home front but then again, they bonded over this. Overall this book about her life is real, raw, funny, sad but it is truth, Lorelei's truth. To survive this and come out strong and now is revitalizing her career as a mentor, fashion designer, etc. If this is seen by people, read the book and realize how strong this wonderful woman is!
Alexis, Thank you for your careful review. Sometime's people can't handle the truth but I don't think it is worth writing a book like this if the truth is glossed over. Blessings to you and yours, Lorelei
I love this book. I've been a def leppard fan since 1987 and remember vividly the day I found out that Steve Clark had died in 1991. When Lorelei announced that she had written her story and would be releasing the book, I was intrigued to find out more about her time with Steve. Its a heartbreaking story of a truly troubled soul and I really feel for her having witnessed his rapid decline. So sad that he couldn't see how loved he was by her and his millions of fans. Of course, Steve is only a small but important part of her story but I would highly recommend it as her story has many twists and turns.
Mark, when I was first asked to write a book - it was intended to be about Steve. However, the publishers and agents told me that it was my story - my personal experience that would shed light on his story. I can't tell you how he felt, only how I felt. It took me over a year to agree to write the book from my experience. It was a 10 year process to see it through. I appreciate your comments. Blessings, Lorelei
