Tired of spending money at the dry cleaners?
So am I. Especially now that I have more time to do these things myself. I love clothes. They are like my babies and so I enjoy taking care of them. I have a lot of respect for the people who created them and even more respect for those hard workers, sewers, embroiderers, and textile workers who made them. The best way I can show gratitude for them and for what I have is to take good care of my cherished wardrobe.
Another things is - dry cleaning chemicals are not helping the planet or even our clothes. They don't smell pretty and when we wear clothes that have been dry cleaned over and over- we are pretty much wearing the chemicals too.
The Dream Dress is machine washable and wrinkle free so you can wash it yourself - just follow these easy steps and I will walk you through the process on How to Wash and Dry your Dream Dress® and other delicate clothing. In fact, most clothes don't need dry cleaning - unless you don't have time to iron them.
As a personal stylist Los Angeles, I am very conscious of sustainability. You have probably heard that fashion is one of the biggest polluters in the planet. While this is hard to hear, it is also good to know that we can each play our parts in being more conscious in how we participate in that.
Organic cotton sounds like a good idea right? But in truth, it is a misnomer. It takes hundreds of gallons of water to grow cotton and believe it or not, there are chemicals used in the process. So, in fact - it doesn't really change anything. I am not saying that you should not buy or wear organic cotton clothing, just don't buy into the myth that it is actually sustainable fashion. I could go on but I don't want to bring you down.
So, what can we do? I believe as long as we do our small parts - it all adds up. One things is - don't over shop. Don't buy things on a whim that you most likely will not wear. It's just wasteful. And, if you can, buy things that you will wear over and over. Classic pieces that never go out of style. And make sure you can wash them yourself! Dry cleaning your clothing not only costs more, but the chemical process used to clean your clothing is extremely harsh on the environment.
For me, I like taking care of my clothes myself. My clothes are like my children and I have a lot of respect for them, where they came from, who made them, and who delivered them to me. Especially The Dream Dress. It is my rock n roll fantasy dress and it is classic ladies clothing at the same time. It takes me everywhere so I don't need to buy so many clothes.
Keep it simple girls, take care of your clothes and your clothes will take care of you!
Cheers,
Lorelei Shellist
